What Christmas means to me.

I often get very irritated about this time of year. No, I'm not trying to be a Scrooge about Christmas... I actually have always enjoyed the happiness and peacefulness it brings to all. However, I feel as though as of late people get to wrapped up in the commercialization of it all. For example, this year I began to see Christmas stuff in the store before Labor Day! Christ never wanted us to forget about the other amazing holidays we celebrate. Also, in my opinion the news of what goes on in stores on Black Friday of how violent some people can be just makes me sad... yes, I know all people aren't like that and that makes me very happy. I didn't get in the spirit of Christmas until about a week ago. I decided it would be best for my students if I did. I think the biggest thing for me is that Christmas has never been about all the presents and all the things I want to have... to me it is really about remembering that because He was born He was able to grow up and teach others how to live righteously. I know I can never measure up to Him, but I do know that because of Him and the sacrifice He made for me I can live with my Father in Heaven. I know I am not perfect, but with His help I know that one day I will achieve perfection. All that read my blog know that Easter is my favorite holiday because of that price, but I do realize that if He hadn't been born He would have never been able to pay the price. So, I guess Christmas to me is about the best gift from God... My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If we all just remember that HE is the reason for the season our lives may be wonderful. An unexpected friend... Happy 8,019 Birth Days!

This post is basically an ode to my Amazing friend Tyler Wright Roylance. Over the past few months I have gotten many questions about him and I want to clear the air a bit. Tyler and I met back in Marching Band in Fall 2008 and ended up becoming pretty good friends. Before his mission we dated a bit, but decided to not make anything serious since he would be headed on a mission. He went on his mission and while he was out I wrote him often. He wouldn't write back as much, but I understood because he needed to be focused on the work. We wrote to each other his entire mission, and when he got home we decided that we needed to go on a date at least once. Well, the opportunity presented itself one weekend when I went up to Rexburg! Tyler and I went on a date... we started off by going to dinner at Gator Jack's and then we just spent a fun night playing games and talking loads! Throughout the past couple of months we have really grown to be close friends! I text him every day, and talk to him on the phone every weekend! He truly is such an amazing friend... now, I know what everyone is thinking... why am I not dating him... well, that is something that for now I want to keep between me, him, and the Lord. Tyler really came home and has come really into my life at a time I needed a friend the most and I will forever be grateful for that friendship! He doesn't like it when I say things like this about him, but meh! And as far as the unexpected friend thing goes I would have never expected to have a friend like him. :-) Happy 22nd Birthday Tyler!

I have long since loved this festive holiday known as Thanksgiving! Why? Well, no other holiday (yes, this includes Christmas) do Americans have a reason to eat everything they want and get stuffed plump and be able to watch football (America's favorite sport) and have a reason to just be lazy after cooking and eating all that yummy food! Yeah, Thanksgiving pretty much rocks! Now, to speak of what I'm thankful for:

First, I am thankful for my amazing family! Yes, sometimes they may get on my nerves, but  what is family for! ;)

Second, my amazing friends that mean so much to me... no, I won't name anyone specifically but they know who they are.

Third, all those that have ever touched my life for the
 better!

feelings...

So, I haven't really posted about how things are going, or how I'm feeling about things in a while. Mostly cause I have no clue how I'm feeling. I'm sick and tired of dealing with drama with a couple of friends, and being ignored by them and constantly feeling like my efforts are not worth it. I am however, grateful to those friends I do have that I know haven't abandoned me. (this includes my awesome family). Now, that being said I don't want people to think I'm all depressed about life. If this is my one challenge I will have to face for a bit I will be okay with that, but the only problem is that now it is starting to affect my other friendships. I feel like the one friend I thought would be there for a long time is now gone and basically dead to me. I hate feeling like that. Another friend of mine told me to pray about how I'm feeling and I just feel more and more hurt each time. I wake up from a dream and for some reason that dream involves 2 different scenarios I'm dealing with right now combined into one, and now I'm more confused then I was when I went to bed the night before. I don't want to talk to people about how I'm feeling because then I have to listen to some explanation of how they are going to handle it, or they don't care. I really want to just not talk about any of it! Especially when others feel like they have to talk over me about their problems! I used to be such an extrovert and talk about everything, and talk to everyone... now, all I want to do is crawl in a hole and never speak about my problems except to the one being I know truly cares. I am so grateful that I can speak to my Father in Heaven and get comfort from the Holy Ghost and then to know that the Savior has already paid the price to help me overcome these obstacles in my life. One day I just want to meet someone that will respond to me and let me cry on their shoulder and then not turn their back on me. Now, for those of you who know a tad of my situation please don't read too much into this. Half of this post is about something that happened over a year ago and is still going on. It is mixed in with the loads of confusion I have going on right now.
Lastly, I do not know if those that I want to read this ever will, but I want them to know that if they ever want to forgive me and be friends with me I'm willing to try, but the pain may never go away. Thanks for listening to my boring vent about how hurt I'm feeling.

I AM A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS AND I AM A CHRISTIAN!

Recently the question has come up about "Mormons" being Christians. Well, as far as I know the word Christian  means- someone who believes in Christ. Also, I would like to add our 13 Articles of Faith!
1) We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

5) We believe that a man must be called of God by prophesy and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority to preach the Gospel and administer the ordinances thereof.
6) We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists and so forth.
7) We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues and so forth.

I will end with my testimony.
I know the Church of Jesus Christ to be a CHRISTIAN CHURCH! I know the Book of Mormon is true. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is a man called of God to reveal to us God's will for our day. I know each of these articles of faith are true and I live my life by them. I know Christ laid down his life for us so that we might be saved and have eternal life. For the Man I adore!

Since I am not married this will be very easy to figure out who this post will be about! He is quite possibly the greatest man in my life and the man I do one day marry will definitely have to meet his approval! I of course am talking about my Father!
 Many may not know the whole story of how 24 years ago I came into this world... On May 10, 1987 my mom hit my father and said that I was coming now! The police arrived just in time, but the ambulance was lost. My dear father delivered me into this world with much of the Denham Springs Police Department surrounding. My father was truly the first one to ever see me, to ever hold me, and to ever love me in my mortal state!
 2 weekends ago I was very sick and my dad took amazing care of me. I missed my first day of work on the 19th of September and my Dad took care of me almost every second. I ended up having 2 fevers within 24 hours and my dad got me ice cold water to help my temperature decrease! He is such an amazing example to me! I hope to one day marry someone that will be the Father to my children like my Father has been to me! Now, to end this is the one song that reminds my Daddy so much of me! :-D I love him!

More pain than bareable?

I know I am strong enough to get through trials that life may be throwing at me... But when you have already been hit with being sick and then you are told you have to make a decision between 2 friends then on top of that in one night you find out that someone you have known since birth dies in the most tragic of ways. I pray for the Blalock and Steele families! And I pray that one day people will just stop and take a second to realize all the bad that may come from life and to just embrace and enjoy it.

10 years since September 11, 2001

I was going to write what I wrote in my journal 10 years ago today, but I cannot find that journal. However, I do remember that I was in much shock that day. My life changed from that fateful day, and as I look back on my life since then I realize how much I love having the Gospel in my life. How grateful I am to live in a Country where I can worship Him whenever and where ever I see fit. The images I see and the stories of that day still bring me many tears. I do not remember crying that day, but every year since I have teared up while watching footage and remembering how much I changed that day. Every person that has come into my life since then I have tried to be courteous and kind to them. I have told my closest friends what they mean to me. I am not the same person I was 10 years ago. That being said here are my accounts of that day... Across America it was a beautiful bright and sunny day! As I sit in my 9th grade Health Class taking a test as the assistant principal, Coach St. Pierre ran into our classroom and turned on the TV. As I looked up to see what was going on I remember seeing the second plane hit the south tower of the World Trade Center. As I see this happen my eyes open in shock, and my mouth dropped. I then tried to focus on my test and noticed that I could not because I wanted to see what was going on. As I went on to second hour our teacher did not believe what we were telling her, but decided towards the end of class we were telling the truth. As I went onto third hour Mr. Fiegles told us that because of the events that have just occurred we would sit in silence throughout the period. As I sit in silence wondering what is going on and looking at my classmates I remember thinking how much they all meant to me. I then went to lunch and heard different things, but I remember no one really said much about what was happening, and no one talked much at all. The school was in shock. 4th hour Biology our teacher told us as long as we did our work she would turn on the tv. As I watched the tv I realized that the pentagon had just been hit by another plane. As I sat there wanting so much to cry I held it back and realized that eventually life will go on. 5th hour we sat and listened to the radio report that a plane had gone down in a field somewhere in Pennsylvania. At the time we had no idea that several of the passengers on that plane became the heroes that we will never forget! United Flight 93 had ordinary men and women and a few hijackers on board when it took off that day. When it went down that day it had many heroes willing to give their lives so that others may live. 6th hour our teacher would not let us watch and I'm still not sure whether that was a good or bad thing, but after I was done with my work I sat in silence wondering what would happen to me now. The school had cancelled all after school practices and activities and told us to go home to our families. As my brother and I went home we got on the computer and researched for hours on what was going on to our country that we loved so much. We began to learn it was terrorism. I was forever changed.

Every year since that day I have tried to find someway to reflect on what happened. One year later I wrote a little poem that I have kept close to my heart ever since.

As I Remember

As I remember 

that 11th day 

of the 9th month of 2001,

I sit back and think of where I was.

I was in a classroom 

taking a test when

an administrator came running in

to turn on the TV.

I looked up and as I 

look up I see a 

plane hit the south tower of WTC,

I see north tower is on fire, 

and then I cry.

I weep.

I wonder.

I ask the questions,

Who, What, When, Why, and How

it could happen to the 

United States of America?

I've grown from that small act

I've realized how he works

Darkness and Light cannot exist

together, darkness was there

as the plane hit

Light shunned it out to help people live,

to help them understand that it would be ok,

that everything was fine.

As I Remember these thoughts I cry.

I smile because I grew that day.

I became a little taller in my understanding

of the true gospel of God.

Always As I Remember!!!!!!!

I realize now that the students I teach daily do not know about this day, but they will learn about it in history books. They will read how not hundreds but thousands of Americans died by an act of Terror. They will learn how ordinary men and women became extraordinary heroes that this country will remember forever. This morning as I got up I also realized that youngest child in school during that year are now in high school. The youngest person alive is in 4th grade. The miracles of that day can be seen in our children today. When I taught in Ucon, Idaho I met a second grader that was born that day and he told me that his mother told him that he was her miracle of that day. Thinking about how life can now go on and that all the uncertainties of that day I do not have to worry about right now I am eternally grateful to my Father in Heaven for the kindness He has shown me and the paths He has led me down. That year changed my life forever. 

This morning as I was watching the television ksl had interviewed a muslim woman who said that in the Q'oran  they learn that if you kill one person it is as if you have killed all humanity and that is a great sin, but if you save one person it is as if you have saved all humanity. That made me think a bit about all these people who were so angry with people of the muslim religion and I think the biggest thing we need to remember is that people of all faiths died that day because of members of a group that we now know is called Al Queda. The man we soon found responsible for all those deaths we learned his name to be Osama Bin Laden. In May he was killed by a group of Navy Seals.

 I know that the fight has not ended and that more sadness is to come in the future.

BFF has been married 4 years and WHO DAT GAME DAY!

So, as I'm sitting here watching my Saints play some football I got to thinking about how 4 years ago today I was my BFF's bridesmaid! She is simply one of the greatest people I know and Jason is amazing to her as well!

I met Bonnie my second semester of my freshman year through another friend of ours, and we lived two doors down from each other and she was my visiting teacher... we ended up being so close almost nothing could separate us. That was also the semester Bonnie met Jason. He has been nothing, but amazing to her! They are truly a couple I admire. They have been married 4 years and because they are so dedicated to each other they are finishing up their schooling before starting their family. Another reason why Jason is so awesome is that he let's me talk with Bonnie on the phone for hours! I love it! We get to catch up on life in general, and she is simply the one person (besides my future husband) I always want in my life (outside of my immediate family)! Yeah, she's just the perfect best friend! I can't believe she has bee married this long and I know for the rest of their lives and eternity it will be magnificent for them! LOVE YOU BONNIE LYNN!!!!!

To My Most Awesome Married Sister!

Since I did it for all my other sibs it is time to do it for the oldest! My Sister Katie is now 32! Of course, if you ask her she will say she is either 30.2 or 25... lol. She has always been an example to me growing up and I love her loads for it. (Sometimes she was the example of what not to do). However, as she has gotten older I have seen how her relationship with our mother has strengthened and I hope to one day be that close with our mom too. Katie got married when I was in Jr. High... doesn't seem like it was that long ago, but it was... and she now has four amazing children! They are the coolest! She has three boys and 1 girl! And My niece is by far the best little girl in the world! I want my sister to know that she can bother me any time because I love her... even if she makes me mad... sorry it's not an epistle, but enjoy pics of me with her fam! (including her)

It's a New Dawn, It's a New DAY, It's a New Life for me... and I'm feeling good.

    My sister recently put this as her status on facebook and I'm stealing it cause I think it fits perfectly for me right now! Life is just so amazing! I love my job so far and everyone I work with is just amazing!
    Last night (08-21-11)  the Bountiful YSA stake got to have the opportunity to listen to Elder Ballard speak and one thing he said really struck me. Most of the time I tune out when someone speaks on marriage, but he actually directed a really amazing comment to us young women as he called us... he said that we each need to catch our inner beauty and wear it on our sleeves for all the young men to see. It made me smile cause it made me think of how my siblings sometimes say that I'm "the nice one." I've come to realize that being nice isn't horrible either. Also, Elder Ballard spoke to us about not being afraid. There are so many young singles that are afraid of marriage, or afraid of what might come in the future. I must admit, I am one of these young singles that is sometimes afraid of what might lie ahead in my future, but I just need to remember that Heavenly Father will take care of me (especially since he mostly already has)! I am so grateful for all of the blessings I've had throughout my life especially the blessings as of recent. I know I say this loads, but I have truly been blessed by having such amazing friends, family, and anyone that has been there for me especially throughout this past year! :-D
     So, finally I'm going to stick my neck out and say guys if you want to ask me or any other girl out JUST DO IT! We may be blonde and not realize you like us (sometimes we do think the same as you).

An Abundance of Blessings

   Throughout my life I have always heard about people receiving blessings and those have changed their lives. However, in my life I've noticed that in order to receive blessings I have to continue on a righteous path and my life won't drastically change, but it will slowly improve. So, what has been going on with me to relate to such blessings and my title?
    Well, for starters I've reconnected with so many remarkable people and met so many new ones within the past few months. I'm so grateful for all of these people, and hopefully they know who they are. Next, I got a job working at Legacy Prep Academy (LPA), and so far I love the amazing people and how sweet they are. I will mostly be working with Kindergarten too! :-D Also, within a week of getting this job I was able to get my dream vehicle (well, almost) I now have a black chevy s-10 (wanted a blue one since I was a kid). Anyways, I love it. It has 4WD and is just way good!

a new job, a vehicle?

So, today I had my first day of training for the new job, and it is going to be intense! I can just tell, but it will also be very very fun! I have begun to see again why I love teaching so much. This school is a Direct Instruction Private Charter school. They teach Direct Instruction, but at a mastery level. I am learning how to implement things that at times you don't think possible in a classroom, but the beauty is that all children can learn and all teachers can teach with success. It seems like everything I learned while in school will finally pay off!

Now onto the vehicle. I'm not terribly picky about what vehicle I get, but I do have my eyes set on one in particular... see, ever since I was a little kid I've always wanted a Chevy S-10! Why? I dunno... maybe cause it's a small truck and if there is one thing I have always wanted it's a truck and a truck in a small package sounds perfect! Well, when we found out that I got this job my parents and I really began to look at a vehicle for me... even more than we had before. I had looked a bit online last weekend at like ksl and even asked friends on facebook. Well, the other day Dad was coming home from work and went past a local dealership and saw a black Chevy S-10... granted I would love for it to be blue, but black won't kill me... and my goodness I have just grown to really like it just be looking at it. We are going to go car shopping tomorrow hopefully... which would benefit me loads... because the less I have to rely on someone else the more independent I can be! It will be nice to be independent! I will have to keep everyone updated on if I get it or not! But for now enjoy my eye candy!

Proper Etiquette in social networking.

So, here is the Big question... now that the internet is so huge among young people is there a proper way to talk about friends or about what is going on in your life that involves your friends? Well, lately this has really been on my mind. Recently I have heard of situations where several people are being rude to their so called "friends" on a social networking site and then getting upset when things go aray. Or where someone has said something about someone and then expects them to be happy go lucky about it. In my opinion I think the best rule for everyone to have is that if you can't say something nice about someone don't say anything at all! I'm not going to name names because people will probably think it's them, but I will say scenarios.
First, to my married friends... most of this does not pertain to you and you are part of the reason I have begun to be extremely careful of what I say about others on a public networking site... I mean even if you are pertaining to "those people" the people it's about can usually figure it out. Again, I apologize to them for anything I did.

Now, to the situation I'm seeing from the outside currently and mostly staying out of, but getting very irritated by seeing it pop up on my wall all the time. I think it very rude for anyone to publicly say on a social networking site that a group of people make the worst friends. I mean seriously... you never know what that person's life is like. Or what it's like for them to be over the age of 21 and still live under your parents roof trying to make a living. You never know how hard it might be for them to find a well paying job, or if they are actually feeling 100% everyday. Sometimes people talk about others behind backs, but not always are things that are said absolutely awful and horrible. So, if I'm mostly staying out of this situation then why is it bothering me so much? Because the fact is that over the past year living in Utah (mostly Bountiful) has truly grown on me and those people that have been really amazing friends to me while I've been here keep getting slammed by others. So, some may wonder now.... why care so much? I have always had respect to people that show generosity to me or any member of my family. While living here in Bountiful over the past year (especially within the past few months) I have met the most generous people ever. Most of the guys would give you the shirts off their backs and most of the girls would be there if you needed a shoulder to cry on (this includes all the married people I've met). So, in my opinion if you want people to like you don't talk about them like that in public. No, it's not cool to talk about people behind their backs, but a lesson I learned a long time ago and well, it got drilled into my head recently too is that no matter what you think people are going to talk about you. The only way to change it is to allow them to talk about you in a good way by being a good person.

Does this apply to people in particular? It's possible. If they would like to know for sure... they can ask me and I'll be straight with them. Moral of my story... if you don't want someone to be publicly rude to you... don't be publicly rude to them on a social networking site even if you aren't naming names... it's kinda like this post... you know it pertains to you and you are being dumb... yeah... this post isn't to anyone in particular just getting out frustrations I've had for the past few months or so.

To the best friend I've had since I was born!

Today is my brother, David's 26th Birthday! :-) He is older than me by 2 years, and even though we have often fought throughout our lives we have also been the best of friends. He has always helped me to come out of my comfort zone. (Yes, I have a comfort zone at times). Next to my parents he is probably my hero because I have seen him overcome loads throughout his life. (My other siblings are my heroes too. My favorite memories are probably from Jr. High and High School because we would usually fight at home, but at school we'd be the best of buds! I remember once in Jr. High; I was in 6th grade and he was in 8th grade and he had P.E. just before I did so we would always have to walk through the cafetorium (cafeteria/auditorium) and would give each other a high five! It was so cool to be able to see him every day even though I know he hated how I was taller than him at the time. I also really loved high school with him! For my first 2 years of high school he was around and we were in band together! It was nice because even the second half of my freshman year I got to be around him loads, and since I played trumpet and he played percussion I was able to see him loads more. (the trumpets sat in front of the percussion). My brother was basically my best friend and confidant during high school! My sophomore year I had 1 class with him and got to sit with him at lunch, and was able to be in a club with him. The next year I was also in a club that he had been in the year previous. He was my friend at church and is still one of my really good friends today even though we get irritated with each other loads! That's the best part about siblings though (well, at least with mine) no matter how annoying or irritating they can be they are definitely the greatest friends you will always have! Good Things Come to Those Who Wait!

I used to hate hearing that IF I waited I would eventually get the thing I wanted most. But as I have gotten older I have learned that IF you do wait for an opportunity and keep trying you will eventually succeed.

About a month ago I got back from Girl's camp and my dad had been researching jobs for me and found one at Legacy Preparatory Academy as a Teacher's aide. He told me I should apply for it and at the time I was kinda nonchalant about it. Mostly, cause I was tired of feeling discouraged. My dad kept encouraging me and so did my mom. I finally just got online and printed out an application and fixed up my resume'. I mailed in both of them and prayed to get some kind of answer and also applied for jobs in the Davis County School District. Last Tuesday I was resting because I had been sick when mom handed me the phone and told me it was LPA. They asked me to come in for an interview on Thursday at 9am. I was so happy because previously I had been planning a trip to Idaho and hadn't quite decided when I would leave. I ended up leaving Friday. So, Thursday I went in for the interview and had my unit from student teaching with me. I left the interview feeling both very hopeful and like it went rather well. I was both honest and told what I knew about the experiences I've had. The lady told me I would hear back within a week on whether or not I got the job. Well, today I had the phone with me just so I would be able to answer it when they called. I had gone upstairs for just a second, but luckily we have at least one phone upstairs. They called and told me that they have an opening and asked if I would like a job working for LPA. I was so excited that I just said yes right away! I wish I could be like my sister and just keep it on the down low, but I just love when good things happen and when life starts to turn around.

Last Friday I had the opportunity to go to BYU-Idaho for my friends' graduation. I was invited by my friend, Stacey, and ended up actually going for all the many friends I've known throughout the years. Congratulations to Brian Christensen, Stacey Corbridge, Jessica Hannon, Bryan Ringo, Kacee Ferrell, and anyone else I've known throughout the years, but didn't know you graduated! Life is truly a blessing and I'm glad to have met all of these people cause they have each made an influence in my life.

Also, I am eternally grateful to my friends Chris & Sadie. Because of them I never have to worry too much about where I will stay when I go to Rexburg for a visit. They are two of the greatest people I know and I'm so happy I can call them my friends! I love their baby because he is so good and happy most of the time!

Thanks to all those you have prayed for me throughout this time and who have been a blessing in my life! All of you have no idea how much you mean to me, and I hope one day I can tell you! Love you all and remember that GOOD THINGS REALLY DO COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT!
