The next one I'd like to honor is my grandfather, John Duggan Mayhoffer, who served in the Navy towards the end of WWII had we not won the war he would have had to be deployed. This man never truly showed his love towards his family, but as I've grown older and truly learned who he was as a man I am honored to call myself his granddaughter. He passed away on March 6, 2008.
The last one I'd like to honor is my grandmother, Kathleen A. Weckmeuller Mayhoffer. I never knew this woman, but because of the woman I see that my mother is I can imagine what she must have been like. She served in the Army as a Nurse. She passed away when my mother was 6 years old of difficulties resulting from pregnancy.
I feel blessed to have had such amazing people shape my life. There are many many others that I could name, but these are the few that I have chosen to speak of... I am happy that as I get to know more about my grandparents I can feel their love forever! I also really love my father and the man that he is... He uplifts me spiritually when I need it, and he cares for me always. He is and will always be the man who held me first as a newborn baby!
