A Day to Remember

As I was sitting watching the Memorial Day Concert on PBS I was reminded about all my family members who have served and have gone on before me. There have been many that have made it possible for me to be the woman I am today. First of all there is my Father, Rick A Baron, who served in the army in the 1970s he was a food inspector in Korea. I have always looked up to him and hope to one day find a man like him.

The next one I'd like to honor is my grandfather, John Duggan Mayhoffer, who served in the Navy towards the end of WWII had we not won the war he would have had to be deployed. This man never truly showed his love towards his family, but as I've grown older and truly learned who he was as a man I am honored to call myself his granddaughter. He passed away on March 6, 2008.

The last one I'd like to honor is my grandmother, Kathleen A. Weckmeuller Mayhoffer. I never knew this woman, but because of the woman I see that my mother is I can imagine what she must have been like. She served in the Army as a Nurse. She passed away when my mother was 6 years old of difficulties resulting from pregnancy.

I feel blessed to have had such amazing people shape my life. There are many many others that I could name, but these are the few that I have chosen to speak of... I am happy that as I get to know more about my grandparents I can feel their love forever! I also really love my father and the man that he is... He uplifts me spiritually when I need it, and he cares for me always. He is and will always be the man who held me first as a newborn baby!

A Tribute to My Mother

So in my family there has long been this joke about our mother being this CRAZY GARDEN LADY! My oldest sister, Katie, found pictures to prove that she was when she was younger and well, she still loves to go out and work in the garden today! In fact I have taken pictures to prove this fact... so, to the best Mother in the World to me and I'm sure all my siblings may agree... this post is dedicated soley to the woman I love most in my life and though I may not always show it I love and truly respect her! She is an inspiration to me and all that I stand for in life! If it weren't for her I wouldn't be going on to greater things that I know will help me receive blessings forever! I LOVE YOU MOM, and HERE ARE THE CRAZY GARDEN LADY PICTURES! :)

Is it Over... a wonderful experience!

How do I say that I'm both sad and joyful? I've got total mixed emotions... this experience has been both lovely and frightening! It's been 13 weeks of pure joy and getting to know 52 amazing 4th graders! That's right... I got to know both classes of 4th graders and there are 26 in each class! I was able to teach the other 4th grade class my unit that I did for my work sample with my other class! It was on the Water Cycle and it ROCKED! I had my days where I just wanted to quit, but I fought through it by crying a little or just working harder! Then, in the end... here I am! Finished! I passed student teaching and can now pretty much look for a job! I'm both excited and scared! I still have one test to pass, but I know with faith I can do it! I am FOREVER thankful for the opportunity I have had with these students, and I think that I will go back and visit with them often (if I didn't... they wouldn't be happy)! Well, I think I'll end with a song that kinda expresses my feelings... It's usually a song with a relationship, but well... think of it in terms of having to leave a wonderful class and starting a new journey... teachers will definitely understand this!

Lyrics to It's Not Over :
My tears run down like razorblades
And no, I'm not the one to blame
It's you ' or is it me?
And all the words we never say
Come out and now we're all ashamed
And there's no sense in playing games
When you've done all you can do

But now it's over, it's over, why is it over?
We had the chance to make it
Now it's over, it's over, it can't be over
I wish that I could take it back
But it's over

I lose myself in all these fights
I lose my sense of wrong and right
I cry, I cry
It's shaking from the pain that's in my head
I just wanna crawl into my bed
And throw away the life I led
But I won't let it die, but I won't let it die

But now it's over, it's over, why is it over?
We had the chance to make it
Now it's over, it's over, it can't be over
I wish that I could take it back

I'm falling apart, I'm falling apart
Don't say this won't last forever
You're breaking my heart, you're breaking my heart
Don't tell me that we will never be together
We could be, over and over
We could be, forever

I'm falling apart, I'm falling apart
Don't say this won't last forever
You're breaking my heart, you're breaking my heart
Don't tell me that we will never be together
We could be, over and over
We could be, forever

It's not over, it's not over, it's never over
Unless you let it take you
It's not over, it's not over, it's not over
Unless you let it break you
It's not over

HALF WAY TO THE END...

So, normally I wouldn't put two posts on one day, but I felt like these two needed to be separated. First things first... my oldest nephew turned 9 today! WEIRD!!!! Second... Well, it was time for midterm evaluations today and WOW! I have gotten one 3 and the rest 4s.... Pretty amazing! Especially since my supervisor said he hardly ever gives 4s! Basically this means that I've been doing pretty darn well! Only 6 more weeks! YEAH REALLY!!!! THAT'S IT!!!!! I'm way excited... I have a unit to plan (my work sample) and then well, basically I'm free clean! It will be nice! :D LIFE IS GRAND!!!!!

WHO DAT!

I am a hard core Saints Fan! I will admit it until the day I die. So, yesterday I came home and went to my parents basement and got ready to watch the Saints in their first ever Super Bowl! I was soo excited to watch it on my parents big screen and way excited that many of my friends were rooting for the same team as me! I converted them all to the proper team! It was an amazing game that had me off my seat and in tears during most of it... especially at then end when the saints pulled ahead by two touchdowns... at this point I knew I was in Heaven... there are a few stories I would like to post as well...

The Saints won this on 4th down, 4th quarter, with 44 secs left, at 8:44pm... this was the 44th Super Bowl, Obama is the 44th President (who cares about this though lol), there are 44 days from Christmas to the Super Bowl, the Saints franchise is 44 years old, today made 4 years and 4 months since Katrina, it took the Saints 4 minutes and 44 seconds to win in overtime during the NFC game!!! WHO DAT!!!!

HELL FREEZES OVER lol
Boudreaux died and was on his way down to hell. In anticipation, the Devil turned up the thermostat to make it extra warm for Boudreaux. When Boudreaux arrived, the devil asked, "Hey Boudreaux, how do you like it down there?" Boudreaux says. " Mais, it's just fine.It reminds me of summer on the bayou." That made the devil mad. That night, he turned the thermostat up all the way it could go.Man it was hot! When Boudreaux woke up, the devil asked him,Now how do you like it down here?" Boudreaux says," Mais,it's fine. It reminds me of August in Lafayette." As you might expect, that made the devil more mad.Well, that night,he turned the thermostat down all the way it could go!The whole place frosted over.Icicles started forming from the rafters. When Boudreaux woke up, the devil asked him, How you like it NOW,BOUDREAUX? Boudreaux, shivering, through blue lips, says, Mais cher, I'm one happy Cajun!" The devil was infuriated! He yelled,"What do you mean you're one hapy Cajun?!!! Boudreaux, still shivering says, "The Saints done won the Superbowl!!!!!

Saints won... 31-17!!!! I was very happy!!!!! BLACK & GOLD MARDI GRAS!!!!! <3
